Module 7: POST GRADUATE WORK PERMIT
A post graduation work permit (PGWP) would make you eligible to work in Canada after your studies. With your Canada work experience and Canada education, you will be well on your way to qualifying for permanent residence in Canada
However based on Canada’s policy change on January 22, 2024, all masters students (regardless of the number of years they study) will be eligible for a 3 year post graduation work permit with effect from September 1, 2024
However, for students on all other levels of studies (diploma to graduate certificates/diplomas), the length of their post graduation work permit will be equivalent to the number of years studied
If you study for one year, you will get a one year post graduate work permit. Any studies 2 years and above will be eligible for a 3 year PGWP. If you study for 18 months to less than 2 years, you may get a PGWP of equal length to your studies or a 3 years PGWP, depending on the discretion of the visa officer
